Maile and the kids

There is a window hiding behind the large red entertainment center you see in this picture!  The unit had been especially designed for this client’s previous home that I did and the search for a larger house included finding a spot just right for this piece.  My suggestion to the client and remodeler that we place it in front of the existing window on this wall and add a window to the left of the fireplace gave the room the balance that it previously lacked.

The kitchen, which has a pass-through to the family room we see here, was featured in the annual 2005 Kitchen Ingredients Tour which benefits The Council for Children.  I suggested a kitchen designer for the detail work and my client did a lot of the foot work looking at cabinets and granite.  We had a wonderful time together making the final decisions on cabinet finishes, wall colors, fabrics and window treatments, and lighting and accessories.  It was a great “team” effort and we had a lot of fun.
